Meet the Team

Claire Heath

I have been a volunteer at Hospital Radio Hillingdon since 2009 and I have loved every single minute of my time at the station.

When I first joined I was keen to get involved with the fundraising side of things but I was soon persuaded to try presenting. I am not sure what was most daunting, speaking live on air or learning how to operate the equipment...let alone do both at the same time! With the help of the team I soon settled into presenting and joined the Wednesday night request show before moving on to the Monday night request show.

The request show gave me the opportunity to go onto the wards and speak to the patients, their families and the nursing staff. I loved finding out what people’s favourite songs were and hearing some fantastic stories around them. I hoped that when the music was played it would bring back fond memories and help put a smile on the patients face. After all every song has a great story!

I recently moved to the early evening show on Wednesdays. I am thoroughly enjoying this show as I get to play a variety of songs from across the decades, the day’s anniversaries and birthdays and of course my favourite part the ‘Old School’ section, where I get to play two songs from my school days...yes from the 90’s and noughties! You will often find me dancing and singing to these in the studio!

From personal experiences I know that Hospital Radio Hillingdon can help ease the stay in hospital. Our fantastic team want to bring a smile to your face and get your feet tapping away to the music! So stay tuned and I hope you enjoy the show.

Claire.
